Summer Escapes

With the festive season upon us and the mercury rising we thought we would share a few of our favourite beachside escapes for summer up and down the beautiful NSW coast. There is just so many to choose from but here is a few of our all time favourites.

  1. Up the north coast lying between the seaside holiday towns of Foster and Port Macquarie is Crowdy Bay National Park. There are several top camping areas in this national park but our pick has to be Kylie’s Beach. The access track to the park can be a little rough at times but nothing too hair raising and the deep blue ocean is only a stones throw from your camp.

    2. Next up we head south of Sydney, not too far though. Situated between Shellharbour and Kiama you will find Killalea Reserve, formerly Killalea State Park. There is a well laid out camping area located in a lofty position with an excellent surf beach a short stroll away. If you want a break from the ocean then the inlet also a short stroll away is a top spot to launch the canoe.

    3. Back up the north coast of NSW and this time north of Coffs Harbour. Stretching for over 60km Yuraygir National Park has multiple camping sites in various sections along this magnificent coastline. One of our favourites is Red Cliff in the northern section of the park. It is easily accessible and you have a choice of open, grassy sites or more sheltered sites among the heath-lands.

    4. Heading south once again and to the north of Batemans Bay is Murramarang National Park. Once again there are several camping areas to choose from, however in the far north of the park is Pretty Beach, one of our picks for this area. It is a top spot to unwind with actual Pretty Beach a few steps from camp. There are even hot showers and powered sites available here as well as lots of friendly kangaroos. It is a real gem.

    5. Further up the stunning north coast of NSW located a bit of a way off the highway you will find Black Rocks in Bundjalung National Park. This is a top place to spend a day or two or week right on the coast with the crashing surf lulling you to sleep each night. Each camping area here is private and they even come with their own clothes lines to hang the beach towels on.

    6. Our sixth and final beachside summer escape pick for NSW comes from the delightful south coast. South of the seaside town of Bermagui you will find Mimosa Rocks National Park. Located in the middle of the park and accessed via private property (please leave all gates as found) Picnic Point Camping Area can be found. This picturesque spot sits on a headland with impressive views of the outstanding coastline.

We hope we have given you some inspiration for your next beachside summer escape, at least in NSW anyway.

If you are like us and prefer to head for the cooler less humid hinterland for your summer escape join us next time as we share a few of our favourite hinterland escapes along the NSW coast.
